Small Grocery Trips

Last week I did run to the grocery store twice to pick up a few odds and ends...
Here's the damage:


1 loaf of Wonder Bread
1lb Land o' Lakes White American Cheese
1/2 lb Boars Head Honey Maple Turkey
2.5lb Boneless Pork Loin
1/2 Gallon Apple Cider

BIG Y: SPENT: $15.12

1 small loaf of French Bread
3 bags of Big Y Shredded Mozzarella
1 bar of Cabot Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese
2 cans of College Inn Beef Broth
1 38oz Heinz Ketchup

October Grocery Money Spent: $169.87
October Grocery Money Left:  $344.99

****Note: I still have to deduct the money spent at CVS for the small stockup trip I did***

How is everyone else doing with their grocery spending for the month?


  1. It adds up so quickly, doesn't it? Did you get a good price on your pork loin? I've been over budget for the first 2 weeks of October (since I counted the 9/30 trip as an October trip) and we've had eating out expenses too so I'm definitely going to have to tighten the belt the rest of the month. We technically don't need much so I just need to resist all the "good deals", lol.

    You have a lot of money left in your budget for the month so it looks like you're doing great!

    1. Ah, so hard to resist those deals! I know! I think this week I am literally going to just through all my grocery flyers away since I don't want to be tempted to go buy anymore! LOL
      Thanks. I am doing a bit better than last month at this time (I think). We will see what happens! =)

  2. I only have the one trip this month so I am under $25 so far. Super Doubles (where Harris Teeter doubled up to $2 coupons) so I am saving up to do lots of spending then!!! I can't wait to see what deals I can get :) That is a lot of cheese. Do you freeze it or are there things you are using it for?

    1. Wow Alison! You are doing amazing with your grocery spending! You're right - it is a LOT of cheese but we go through it rather quickly. The three bags of mozz were a buy 1 /get two free sale so I am planning on making baked ziti in the next week or two. And the chunk of Cabot is for snacking wtih crackers and a wheatberry salad I will be making later this week.

    2. We have a cheese problem here too. I find that I am putting cheese in nearly every meal. It is so yummy and adds flavor. I even made the right drawer in the fridge a cheese only drawer. I am hoping that I don't misplace any of have problems using it before it is moldy of gross. In addition, I am hoping that it keeps the blue cheese smell inside. I love the cheese and hate the way it smells in the fridge :) I just wondered if you bought them because they were a great deal or for specific meals. I tend to get shredded cheese and throw them in the freezer when they are around $1 or under which is more and more rarely!

    3. $1 for a bag of shredded cheese? LOL Not at my grocery stores here in CT! If I found it for that price, I would need a separate freezer for cheese alone! =)
      The Mozz was buy 1/get 2 free. I was making something that night which I needed the cheese for and I knew I would be making baked ziti in the future so I grabbed it. =)
